CD買うしか楽しみがない

　Amazonでずーーーーーーっと続いていた「輸入盤2枚買ったら10％OFF」キャンペーンが3月26日で終了するという。もはやそれがキャンペーンであることを忘れるほどに続いていたキャンペーンだったので、終わってしまうのは残念を通り越して腹立たしいほどだ。私なんて輸入盤は常に2枚以上セットで注文していたのに。しかし何事も永遠ということは無いのである。世の無常をはかなんで、悟りを開くべきなのだ。
　キャンペーン終了を知った後に私が取った行動は、少しでも安く買えるうちに買っておこうと在庫やウィッシュリストをチェックすることだったから、悟りには程遠いが。
　しかしキャンペーンは終わるとはいえ、今輸入盤のCDはアホみたいに安い。一時よりは円安に振れたものの、まだ1ドルが83円ほどだから充分に円高であることも関係はあるだろう。しかしそれ以上に英米のCDの価格設定そのものが気狂いめいている。

Otis Redding 5CD ORIGINAL ALBUM SERIES BOX SET

　オーティス・レディング、アレサ・フランクリン、ジョン・コルトレーン、リトル・フィート、J・ガイルズ・バンド、モンキーズなどなど、「ORIGINAL ALBUM SERIES」として5枚組のボックス・セットで発売されているタイトルの内、ワーナー系レーベルが権利を持つものが4月9日までの期間限定で1900円になっている。
　ポーグスとかプリテンダーズとか、正直なところこの5枚があれば他は無くても困らないよなと言いたいアーティストも少なくない。そのバンドのハイライト部分がわずか1900円で把握されてしまうことに、シェーン・マゴウワンやクリッシー・ハインドは虚しさを覚えないのだろうかと心配になってしまう。
　トッド・ラングレンやトム・ウェイツは「ORIGINAL ALBUM SERIES」であってもこのキャンペーンの対象外なので、ワーナー系なら全てということでもないらしい。今回チェックするまで知らなかったが、ヴァイオレント・ファムズなんて渋いところも5枚組で出ていた。これも今なら1900円。
　他にも調べていると、失礼なほど安いCDも出てくる。

THE RHYTHM OF THE SAINTS

　ポール・サイモン『Rhythm of the Saints』は466円(笑)。リマスター盤ですぜ。

Human Touch

　ブルース・スプリングスティーン『Human Touch』は321円(笑)。確かにブルースのアルバムの中ではそれほど人気の高い作品ではないが、それでもブックオフのバーゲンコーナーより安いのは異常だろう。これで原価を割っていないのなら、私は何を信じて生きていけばいいのか分からない。念のためここに書いてある値段は全て3月22日現在のものなので、それ以降に見てみたら高くなっていても怒らないように。
　Amazonのバーゲン・コーナーを見ていると、ジャケット・デザインがチープな編集盤も割と多く見かける。装丁や編集意図に首をかしげる部分はあるにせよ、この安値の前には言葉が出ない。

　『Pure Singer Songwriters』という4枚組セットで478円！1曲あたりいくらなんだ？Amazonのページには曲目情報が無かったので、調べたところこんな内容らしい。

　ご覧のようにソニー系の音源を集めたもので、「Singer Songwriters」とは言うものの音の傾向や年代に統一性は無く、自作自演アーティストであれば何でもという感じ。しかしこの中に好きな曲が3〜4曲もあれば、iTunesで1曲ずつ買うより安い。
　同じ趣向のシリーズでこんなのもあった。

　何というおっさんホイホイ…。レコードが買えなくてFM放送の番組表をチェックしてカセットテープに一生懸命録音していた80年代の自分に教えてやりたい。そんなことしなくても30年後には文庫本程度の値段でどっさり買えるぞと。
　最後に個人的に一番狂喜したブツがこれ。
